Hoping to head to the three valleys at the end of January for a week - had planned to fly to Grenoble but no direct flights from Dublin. As far as I can tell the next best option is Lyon - Does anyone else have any alternative routes?

    Thanks for your advice!

    Hi ya

I was there last year & we flew into Geneva airport was 2.5hrs from Meribel, wasn't too bad.

    Hope that helps!

Think it was Geneva that I went via to get there before, with others in the group taking the train all the way from the UK.

best airport would be chambery but that maybe only with charters or through the uk. i think it may be possible ot get one from belfast?
grenoble-isere (GNB) would be second best i would suggest. a little under 2 hours depending on traffic. ryanair fly here but flights may be not available to buy yet until they update their site with the winter routes. Lyon and Geneva I dont know but would imagine their grand too. Geneva probably a bit more room to move in than the cattle sheds in GNB/Chambery

Have flown in to Lyon, it's not that far on a coach up the mountains. Others I know have gone via Geneva, from talking to them it sounds like much of a muchness.

Geneva is a good example of how not to design an airport.

But despite that it is probably still the best option as there will more than likely be cheaper flights to and from there and plenty of choices for transfers.

Depends how much money you have. A cheap option is Paris, then get an overnight train to Moutiers. That way, you can get a couple of extra days skiing without having to shell out for a hotel.

chambery is prett much TO only but be warned it closes an awfull lot due to the weather.

Geneva has allot of transfer options and 2 hours is not a bad transfer

Thanks for all the replies everyone - from your feedback it seems any of Chambery, Grenoble, Geneva or Lyon could do the trick - all I need now is to find some value!
