    Hi,

NOt a regular poster here but I knew someone on the boards would be able to help me with my problem!!

I bought an iphone in three on the 12th August. It's three pay (didnt want to sign up to a contract, I've enough bills to pay!)

Now my first problem is this:
    • I hate three!!! Its crap! Costing me a fortune ringing my meteor mammy everyday! So can I change back to meteor (porting) or will the iphone let me!
    • Insurance: if i leave three I can no longer avail of their insurance policy. Is there another reliable insurance policy out there suitable for iphones? I realise there's a lot of insurance chancers out there, just hoping someone knows of a trustworthy company.
I'd really appreciate any advice on the above!

    Thank you!

    Lo ;)

Oh it's an iphone 3gs by the way, and I reckon my life was pretty empty before I got it!

What firmware is it on. To check go to settings>general>about and see what it says after version. Depending on the firmware ya could jailbreak it and then unlock it

Failing that all ya can do is ask three to unlock it but I'm sure they have certain requirements

Not too sure about the insurance. Mine is with Zurich through o2

    Thanks Guil,

AFter version it says 4.0.2 (8A400)
After carrier it says 3 Ireland 7.1

You know something - think I'll buy my mother a cheap 3 phone and top it up once a month for her, way easier than this hassle! And the three insurance is good so I'd like to stick with it!

And may I ask a silly question? What does jailbreaking an iphone mean? I have a picture of a dark night, barbed wire, a shovel and a tunnel!! Great escape style!

Lol just have a look around this forum or search jailbreak on google
Basically it allows ya to install apps and tweaks that apple don't authorise. Each time apple release an update it destroys the jb. Currently there is no jb for 4.0.2 so ya can't do it anyway

@ tryinmybest why not sign up for best of both 15 if your getting your mammy a 3 phone, that gives you unlimited 3 to 3 calls, unlimited any network texts and 60 mins to other networks for €15 per month
