Sorry am getting my act together and looking after my car so I've a few questions coming together. Am pretty clueless.

I've cleaned the hub caps with washing up liquid and water but just wondering what would be a good product to use to bring up the shine? Is there a special polishing product on the market?

Are they alloy wheels of plastic hubcaps?

Tons of products available, you will get good results with any of them, try Halfords.

And don't put washing up liquid anywhere near you car, its full of salt and a real no no.

I don't think you can shine plastic, unless it's "chrome" coated.

Might be worth looking at buying new ones if they are that bad. Might not cost as much as you think. Personally, I wouldn't fit aftermarket ones from Halfords etc. as I think it looks wrong without the original equipment.

Think it's only about €40 for a whole new set for a Focus / Mondeo from Ford. Might be €30 a pair for a Passat.

Never use washing up liquid to wash your car! They have sodium chloride (aka salt) in them which help to speed up the oxidation process on the paintwork and make it less shiney. Many washing up liquids also contain ammonia which is too aggressive a cleaning product to use on paint as it can eat into the top layer of the paint and take away some of the shine too.
