To pimp his new book no doubt. Surprised he'd be doing Ireland so early though.

Heard earlier that Richard Boyd Barrett is organising a protest outside Eason's on Saturday where Blair is doing a book signing....

He's definitely on, Ryan Tubridy said so on his radio show this morning! Apparently its the only on-air live interview Tony Blair will be doing in relation to his book...

Hopefully Tubridy gives him a hard time then like he did to Biffo, although I'd imagine Blair would be well able for him.

Yeah he didn't spare any punches with Cowen...can't imagine him being too easy on Blair either so it'll be an interesting interview.

I really think Blair will run rings around Tubridy. If this is his only promotional interview, he's picked a pretty easy interviewer. I'd like to see up against someone like Paxman - would be a lot more interesting.

It's a big opportunity for Tubbs to hit the headlines in the UK if he gets some good questions in.

Blair has already been interviewed by Andrew Marr for the BBC. There were excerpts being carried across their bulletins today.

even though its live, reakon it will be a very scripted interview, blair will be well prepared, his people will probably have given tubbers a list of questions he can and cant ask.

Tubbers tweeted this today: Blair interview with Marr very interesting. Expect lots more on Ireland and family life on Late Late. Blair first guest on Friday night.

So it'll be very lightweight. If the Alastair Campbell interview he did is anything to go by, it'll just be a very, very vague Iraq questions before showering him with compliments and giggling awkwardly.

Yeah, I agree. He let Campbell get away with the "all my relations are Irish" mantra that most Brit LLS interviewees try to spin out to bring the "idiot paddies" on side... Thought I dont know if that means he as any affinity with Tubridy, what with him being a descendant of the Queen...

Tubridy is not experienced enough or clever enough to tackle the heavyweights... They should give this week's show to Pat..

Now be fair, the first thing any Irish interviewer ascertains about a foreign guest is their Irishness.

"getting some good questions in" is not what makes a good interviewer. Getting some "good questions" answered in a coherent and no evasive manner is what makes a good interviewer.
Tubridy isnt a good interviewer. Anyone can ask the questions, only the best can get the answers.

Personally I DETEST anyone coming onto these "chat shows" to pimp a book but the reality nowadays is that 75% + of the people on these shows are pimping something or other and would no doubt never see the light of day on any of these shows were it not for their personal gain.

What are people planning on protesting about? Protesting is a bit late now, if these people were that pushed they should have fcuked off to Iraq and lived there under Sadam.

If I can recollect, I dont think Tubridy brought up the issue of his Irish links. I think he brought it up himself ... i.e. he controlled the interview. Campbell is a sneaky, slippery individual, and Tubridy should have been prepared for his ruses.

Yeah this is true Kippy, a huge percentage of the guests last year were promoting something.. And we can expect more this year.. I hope at least that they get better guests this year..
