    Yanks.

Europe. we won a hattrick of trophies (02-06) when we weren't very good at winning the majors and whilst the Yanks won it in their own back yard I feel that Celtic Manor will be where the cup is regained.

Think you're off your head. This is the strongest European team, maybe ever... and they're at home. I can't see anything other than a European win.

Yep Europe brilliant at Ryder Cup while winning no majors.....now 5 major wins in last 3 years, and USA starts winning the cup! Its weird like that, however....
This is probably the strongest team of Europeans ever, I know we said that last time too, but most of the team didnt perform in 08 and I cant see that happening again. And I see names like Jeff Overton, Matt Kuchar and probably a rusty Anthony Kim and I just think the Euros are gonna eat the like of them alive.

    15.5 - 12.5 Europe for me

I think Matt Kuchar will be one of Americas strongest players. Nerves may get to him, we'll wait and see, but he is very consistant and a very talented player.

    Roll on October 1st.

And the Americans will no doubt say the same about an out-of-form Poulter, an apparently still dazed McDowell, a Lee Westwood who won't have played in months. Fisher, Donald and Hansen are hardly likely to get them sweating either. And i won't even start on Calamity Harrington.

    Europe all the way.

Europe without a doubt, the Welsh weather aint gonna be good for the yanks! If woods plays its gonna up our odds as well.

USA to win by slim margin. better team spirit in pavins camp..... too much potential for heated differences of opinion in montys camp imo for the team to achieve the togetherness that inspired recent euro victories.

theres a bad smell emanating from europes camp already. be happy to get this completely arseways all the same.

    GO EUROPE!

I remember when Seve was captain people talked about friction and the potential for a total collapse. If Europe play their collective game as we know they can they should win.

The US to retain the cup.

The US team have a lot making debuts. The Ryder Cup usually brings the best out in them.

It will be a european win i reckon but there wont be much between the two sides.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 622 ✭✭✭irishtoffee

    Europe by about 4 points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 326 ✭✭Dero123

Europe to win but I don't think there will be much between them may come down to a half point here and there.
Interesting article in the Sun today with Paul McGinley saying himself and Monty have come up with a plan to get the best out of Harrington based on their experiences of having partnered him in the past, have to think that means pairing him up with an experienced player (Westwood) rather than having him look after a rookie..

US to win, and convincingly enough. Maybe 5 or 6 points.
I know there is the arguement that the european team is so strong that you cant get the world number 9 into it, or a player who has won twice in America this year, but I think that holds no water. In Casey, PH, cool hand luke, and Rose, you had what should have been 4 players who made up the backbone of our team, but instead the team is that average that their was little to seperate them from the likes on hanson and Jimenez (although I like both, are not superpowers of golf).
I'll happily be wrong, but I see nothing other than an American win. With the Molinari's, Rory, and Fisher being our better players over the few days.
The yanks are going to have an ever improving Woods, and 3 more wildcards from players like Zach Johnsson, Sean O'Hair, Stewart Cink, Nick Watney and Ricky Fowler (I'm deliberately ignoring A. Kim) and Overton is the only one of the qualified 8 I wouldnt want to have. I really dont see a European win in there. Also, the bad Welsh weather wont affect the yanks. Nearly every week thwre are delays on the PGA tour due to rain/wind/fog, so they will be right at home.

    IMO!

Seems like the favour is towards the European team, however I hope that it's a close match either way.
Hopefully a lot of matches will go the last green.

I was naturally upset when the US won last time out but quickly came to the conclusion that I shouldn't be feeling sorry for a team of multi-millionaires who get to play, what is after all, an exhibition match :D

Funny you should say that because I think the exact opposite.
Think Europe will give them a right thumping.

agree, won't be much in it, but I reckon there might be one or two europeans (not naming names) who might bottle it in the singles

Anymore and its 7-days of unpaid leave lads.

Strange comment, Harrington would have to be the least likely person of all to "bottle it".

Does everyone get a free call-someone-a-wanker credit? Handy. Is that in the charter?

No they dont. If you'll notice you can see that the user was infracted for this post. Back-seat modding is a similar offense btw...

    Europe, by a mile.

Could be embarassing for USA - I'll go for 19pts for Europe, maybe even 20pts to 8.

    Maybe not, but it's implied...

Voted for Europe. Think it's going to be very close though.

After the wildcard picks, there won't be the same continuity in the European camp which is the main reason they won the three in a row. Expect States to pull through in what will be a cracking match.

The Americans will come over and see all that lovely 'soft' Welsh rain falling, and wind howling, and wish they hadn't got on the plane at all !! therefore............I hope the Europeans win and I want to see Harrington doing a 'horsey-like' jump down one of the fairways, 'yeeeeehah' :p
