Anybody up for a NFL Picks comp similar to last years??
Enjoyed last years especially if your FF team is sh*te like mine was!!

Yeah, I'm up for it, it was good craic last year. CBS sports actually sent me an invitation to sign up again to the Boards pick comp, so that's actually still in operation as far as I can see. I reckon you can use the same link, if you've bookmarked it. If you have to set up a new account, let me know, l'll join up.

I'd be on for this again. I set it up last year on cbs sportsline site. Only problem I found was that entrants couldn't set up e-mail reminders for weekly deadlines & consequently a few forgot to enter picks & lost interest.

I'm not sure if there is a reminder facility this year but I am pretty sure that yahoo sports run one aswell that does have a reminder option.

I'm more than happy to hand it over to you Raddo if you want to set it up. If not, let me know & I'll sort it.

OK will do. Think I will do the yahoo one as it gives players a reminder option and we can also include playoff games.
Can you expand the thread title by adding the words, Competition 2010.

For New Players;
Copied & pasted this from last years comp. (think the link still works).

I have set up a boards.ie league on CBS Sportsline.
The way it works is that you choose who you think will win each game every week scoring a point for each correct pick. Rather than getting involved in point spreads and/or confidence points I've kept it to the basic win/lose selection.
The only extra is that you need to pick the total points of the MNF game as a weekly tie-break decider.

The deadline for submitting picks is 1 hour before the start of each game.
I don't think there is a limit to the amount of people who can enter the league, so the more the merrier as they say.

You will need a CBS Sportsline a/c to join. I'm sure alot of you will have one already from fantasy leagues there & also on NFL.com (I'm pretty sure the same a/c works on both sites).

General
For those of you who need reminders each week to submit picks there is no actual facility specifically for this but you could avail of the following;

Click Options, then alerts & set an E-report for overall standings to be sent to your e-mail once a week. I would suggest no later than Thursday as in week 1 & from week 10 onwards Thursday night games are played.

You could also tick the top box under "Message boards & Pool E-Mail" & I (or any other player if they wish) will try to post a message each Wednesday as an effective reminder which you will then recieve.

Interesting year this year. I checked last year's scoring, this year I had a full 10 wins more than last year, 175 compared to 165, yet only got fourth in the picks competition. Was this year easier, or are we just getting better? Winner got 177 picks right, as opposed to 167 last year.

8th. Not too bad... still regretting week 1 where I bet on a couple of teams but forgot to change them for the picks... will be up for this for defo next year

I won! Second time in 3 years with the same score of 177, looks like its the magic number.

I guarantee if I'd started putting money on the games though I wouldn't have done nearly as well!
