Hillwalking in Cork...

...have been around Cahas and up around Knockboy.

Anyone got any recommendations around Clonakilty or Skibbereen? Preferably not a slog across a bog, something with a bit of a scramble, maybe bag a few summits.

Can't think of any big hills near Clonakilty. A circuit of Inchadoney island is a great walk - but only doable at low tide and of course not much of a summit since it is at sea level although you do have to climb up over the "island" to get back to your starting point.

There is a low mountain behind Lough Hyne near skibbereen - great views from the top, but it's a well defined trail to the summit so maybe not what you are looking for.

David Hermann had a book on walks in cork-kerry and Kevin Corcoran has a book on cork walks in current print.

Ended up going around Gougane Barra, Conigar, Bealick, up to Carran etc. Might as well have stood in a power shower with a wind machine for 5 hours!
