Hi. I'm looking at buying a deutx 1993 6.16 and was wondering if anyone has any experience of these tractors? Are there any problems that In should be wary of? The one that I've looked at has a slight issue with the lift control in that the lift lever will not stay in the raised position when you take your hand off unless you use the locking screw. As a result, the lift drops.
The onlu other issue which I've noticed is that the clutch pedal must be half pressed before the clutch begins to engage. The pedal can easily be pressed to this point with the hand. The chap selling the tractor said that it is a result of play and movement in the clutch cable.

    Any help would be apprciated.

The lift handle is an easy fix. It will just involve tightening up an internal linkage. I'd be more worried about the clutch issue. I'm no expert on Deutz, but I didn't think they had a clutch cable - I thought they were made with fluid control clutches similar to the same's at the time (similar principal to the brakes on your car).

Best thing to do is to bring someone who knows these tractors with you to look at it. It may be in perfect condition, but a few € will be well spent on someone to check it out now to save you buying something that will cost you a lot down the line.

yea i think rellig's right cause the brakes are fluid as well id deffo buy 1 there a great machine the neighbours got 1 from new '95 its done a power of work 500 acres of cattle dairy and tillage with a 390 and 168 so it has done a lot of heavy ploughing tilling 5 sheds slurry with 2000 gal tank only ever big problem was brakes went and was a bitch to fix and bleed after they were done so if clutch is fluid id get it checked out 1st or buy it at the right money!
great reliable tractor tho i wouldnt mind highish hours if it looks well maintained or if you know who ur buying it from.

The lift mite be fixable by doing a bit of thighting or it could be worn in the hydraulic housing,

The clutch is a cable on the 6.16 but often its the pressure plate that wears, not that big a job to split them but you will change the clutch and maybe skim the flywheel.

Another thing to check on the air cooled deutz is that it is not blowing under the pots (liners) can be a pricey job.

There a great tractor once looked after, keep the brakes clean they can be prone to seize.
