Glenveagh Park, Griannan an Ailleach. Dunlewey shouldn't be too far. There will be a lot more good ones I'm sure.

as you are in Creeslough I would do the following:

    Maybe one day do this:
    1. Glenveagh, try to find out if they have the bird of prey show on before u visit, I heard it is excellent (there is a thread in this forum on it and some pics)

    2. Then I would go for a drive into Gweedore (if heading from Glenveagh to Gweedore you will pass the posined Glen and Mount Errigal) and take the Bloody Foreland road back to Falcarragh then Creeslough.

    Another day:
    1. Take a surf lesson in the morning, two places in Dunfanaghy do them and its great fun (2 hours they usually last) http://www.narosalife.com/ or http://www.jawswatersports.com/

    2. Go for a walk on a beach, I would suggest Tramore just outside Dunfanaghy, the Irish Independent voted it one of top ten beached in Ireland for walks, takes a bit to get there but really worth it. http://www.sheephavenbay.com/Article_Details.aspx?article_id=7
    and
    http://www.independent.ie/travel/inside-ireland/10-best-beaches-for-walking-1872929.html

Another day maybe do the following:

    1. Go Horse ridding from Dunfanaghy, http://www.dunfanaghystables.com/

    2. Then Check out Ards forest park and with its many walking trails. http://www.coillteoutdoors.ie/?id=53&rec_site=58

or even a drive around Horn Head just outside Dunfanaghy.

Take a day trip to one of the islands.

Tory would be closer to where u are staying http://www.toryislandferry.com/

    or
    Arranmore

    Slieve League anyone?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slieve_League

Possibly the most spectacular place I've ever been in Ireland

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm from Donegal and I'm embarassed to say that I only visited the cliffs for the 1st time in June. It's an absolutely amazing place and I can't believe more people (and pay to) visit the Cliffs of Moher. I stood there for about an hour in pure awe of it's beauty. One thing I would advise if you do visit is to bring proper walking shoes so that you can walk to the top of the hill. Also I think there might be a boat trip around the bottom of the cliff which I'd do when I go back again. Sorry I can't link that because I'm on my phone. Also, another place you have to visit which will just be up the road from you in Creeslough is Ards Friary. It is my favourite place in the world and any troubles I seem to have melt away when I'm there. There are beautiful walks past the church to the right if you follow that path and if you keep going you'll find some beautiful beaches off the beaten track. Hope you enjoy your stay x

Yes Homer, got the boat, the only one that was floating. I was told the place isn't that easy to find but we had no trouble. Had to wait about an hour as a pair of Japanese girls were just after going out but it was worth the wait. I found out about the place from the josey_whale post here, http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=59879673&postcount=14

First time we went out on the boat, after one of my bros had broken his car axle in the lane, I was almost screaming with fright. The boat looked very fragile and the oars were like broom handles. I had a babe-in arms and thought we would all sink and I would be unable to save her or myself. Then someone else, prob my sensible husband, said that we were actually skimming over the rocks and could touch the bottom if we wanted.

Great place, but. I expect I said before that I thought it the last true Irish tourist experience, absolutely crazy and weirdly beautiful and not an interpretive centre in sight.

Horn Head is worth a visit too, so is Dunree Fort.

CLimb Muckish via the miner's path. Over looking Creeslough. Head out the Dunfanaghy road from Creeslough, after a mile or two you'll see a graveyard on your right. Turn left off main road and keep driving till the road runs out and then start walking.

I dont think the OP had anything like that in mind. If they wanted to sit in a pub and drink then I dont think they would have posted here for ideas of what to do in Donegal.

saying as this topic comes up a fair bit on here maybe its an idea for us Donegal folk to come up with our own list maybe by means of suggestion on this thread and then put up a poll for a few weeks with the suggested places and then maybe make a seperate Thread of say the top 5 from the poll and then list the other "notable" places below it and make it a sticky? and let peope come into the sticky and make they suggestions after that then and give feedback if the went somewhere after taking our advise (which is unlikley, lol) Just a suggestion, i think it would work :)

Good idea homer. Can I leave you to carry on with this?

Maybe we can get a new stickied thread with a title of something along the lines of - "Visiting Donegal? Where to stay, what to do and places to visit"

Ah now i was just thinking on the places to visit part, :o I'd leave out the where to stay part, but i'll have a stab at the what to visit part for sure, if anyone else wants to chip in and help with the where to stay, they can feel free but i think that you'd have 100's of places on a list if we done where to stay.

We could do the visit part with the top 5 or 10 overall (as voted in a poll) in the final stickied thread then do 2 other lists i suppose north and south and use the Gap (barnsmore as a marker), could even put a link to a google map with the places pinned to it when the final thread gets stickied (the google maps only takes a few minutes to do) it'd prob be best to start a new thread for suggesting thread instead of derailing the OP's thread here? Anyone agree or disagree? im only suggesting this now so if ya's think its a bad idea shout up but i'll set up the thread later on and then the poll in a few weeks if you all think its a runner and are willing to contribute?

I'm with you on a new thread and look forward to sharing my fave spots this side of the Gap.

Ionad Cois Locha in Dunlewey is worth a look if you're up that area. Don't know if I would call it a "must see" but it's a nice day out with the weaver's cottage, boat trip and traditional music.

I definitely agree that it's worth making a sticky on this. In my experience, many people down in Dublin and other parts of the country seem to think that Donegal is a million miles away and that it has little to offer - when in fact it's a lovely, vast county with lots of interesting places to visit and a good atmosphere.

    Things to do in Donegal...

Inishowen 100, named top ten costal drive in Ireland two weeks ago in Irish Indo. Says start in Bridgend head to buncrana & over magnificent Mamore Gap and on to five fingers strand or Malin Head for a good windy walk. Says in Harrys in Bridgend is a must for food. Doagh Famine Village during summer is a must - closed now in off season.

I'd add slieve league, An Grianan Fort & glenveagh & trip to Tory up there & you do have to visit a real pub with real music.

    Nice Trip
