Had it on tape a few years ago, but I think it has gone by the wayside. If I come across it again, I'll let you know. Great finish, even if it was better in memory, it is definitely one of the very very worst commentaries Ive ever heard by the supposedly always magnificent Peter O'Sullevan.

remember rowing with a guy 3 months prior to cheltenham, arguing which one was the best... to have 2 top class horses fight it out at the top of their game, with no 'excuses' (the usual stuff like "did not run his race"....."made a mistake that cost him the race" etc etc) was brilliant.I was the Bobsline fan ;)

Yeah. Can remember the race, but close to being my earliest Cheltenham memory. The following year when Bobsline was cruising in behind Badsworth Boy when falling is one of the great might-have-been. Can remember Bobsline losing a little class after that but continuing to race and win well into his teens.

1985 and I was 16 at the time at it was my first trip to Cheltenham (was supposed to be going with 2 lads who let me down at the last minute so i went on my own on the boat). Met some of the 'Extel' lads (thats the commentary service before SIS) on the boat and they really looked after me.
Brill memories and, yes, the main reason I went was to see Bobsline crush Badsworth Boy. I think he came down at the top of the hill and I will never forget the cheer from the English crowd when this happened:(. Met Frank Berry on a flight last year and talked to him about Bobsline. He said he was never the same horse after the fall.
Forgive N' Forget won the GC after a snow blizzard held the race back for an hour! See You Then won his first CH...(Brownes Gazette was sent off odds on fav but wipped around as the tape went up.... jock banned and admitted he pulled a stroke!....dont think he would have beaten SYT anyway!) World hurdle was won by Rose Ravine ( who 'murdered' the runner up on the run in as was long odds on to lose the race in the stewards room....but didn't!) and Boreen Prince did an incredible win in the Arkle (beating buck House) and then went back out and finished 5th (I think?) in the Gold Cup!!!
My best memory was having £10 left on the Gold Cup day and had no entry ticket. Even back then it was around £25 to get in on GC day and after standing outside for an hour I decided there was only one thing for it.... grabbed a bucket I found outside and walked through the stable entry way with a horse and his stable lad who happened to be passing!.....

    great memories
