Music Technology Courses???

I'm only just going into sixth year now but I'm pretty keen on doing music technology.

    This looks class:
    http://admissions.nuim.ie/subjects/arts_music-technology.shtml

However, you need a damn third language!! (I dropped spanish after third year because I was bad at it, I got a D in the Junior Cert)

I wanted to know are there any alternative ways in to that course?
    or
Another course somewhere else that's just as good?

P.S: Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section or anything

No, presumably unless you have an exception from the subjects.

When I enquired on getting into the course for a degree after my BCFE one they still demanded I have Irish and French. They still demanded also that I study the arts subjects which are attached to the course.

I passed the Irish and French but the fact you have to divert your studies to arts courses as well as music tech is to me, bad.

There is also another thread in this forum that has a lot of info on courses.

In my view there are much better courses out there.
My personal route was BCFE and Belfast over 4 years.

It's probably a good idea in the long run to study an arts subject as well as music tech. It gives you something to fall back on if you fail to get employed in that sector, and anyone will tell you there is a lack of jobs in the music tech area.

I agree in a sense, though for me there are not any arts subjects Id be interested in falling back on if you get me. Depends what you enjoy and want to learn.

I also dont like the idea of being forced to divert the studies I love to learn about like they want pupils to do, though having said that it is not the only option open to anyone.

Don't get the concept of studying arts as a fall-back for employment if you can't get a job in music. Take arts to be more rounded in your education.
