    Hi all,

I have a sony vaio 2.4ghz, 4gb ram, 360gb HD etc thats getting increasingly slow on start up. I have kaspersky running and no viruses etc. I have cleaned up my HD and uninstalled any programs I don not need.

Below is a link to my processes, image won't work for some reason

Any suggestions how I can speed up my laptop as it should be a lot faster with 4gb ram!

    thanks in advance,

    Install CCleaner, link here: http://www.piriform.com/

It will remove all the crap that builds up during internet use over time. I use it every 2 weeks or so and it removes about 1gb of stuff.

Assuming you have a external harddrive to backup relevant files and the software to reinstall your laptop i would always recommend just to wipe it and reinstall.
Save you so much time, and laptop will behave like the day you got it.
If it is a recovery cd/partition once it runs, you can uninstall any bloatware sony stuff you dont need if applicable.
Would probably take an hour compared to possibly days troubleshooting.

rid off firefox as first..it uses 4 times more resources than internet explorer :)
as second, download, install and run spybotsearch&destroy... this may solve your problems with slow-running laptop
