I just re-applied for my test online but when I got to finish the payment, it said the payment hadn't gone through. I hit refresh and it just gave me another error message. So I hit Back and entered my laser card details again and hit Continue. I then got an error message but not the one that said the payment didn't go through. SO then I just went back to the site to try from the start and when I got to the whole "proceed to pay" type thing and clicked Continue, a message came up saying "You already have an open application in this category." Since I opted to be contacted by post instead of e-mail, I didn't get any sort of message.... Anyone else had this problem and dya reckon my appointment is made and payment has gone through?

Same happened to me, you`ll have to ring them, more than likely the payment didnt go through but there is still a open application.

They will cancel it and let you go again.

Pity they dont have a logon section that would let you manage your appointment/payment but hey its taken this long to get online applications.

Check with your credit card company has taken one, two or no payments.

I had the same problem. The only way I could fix it was to go to my browser history and go back to the details page and hit cancel. I had e-mailed them but they never replyed. Do they ever reply? because I've sent at least three e-mails with genuine questions which I never got replies to and these were over a month ago

    Hi,

    If it hapens again.

You receive an error message because of the 'cookie' that the site has placed in your browser.

Provided you have not completed the payment, simply delete the cookie and start again. (If you are worried about being charged - call them)

Depending on your security settings this cookie may be automatically deleted when you close ALL your browser windows or switch off/on your computer.

If not, for instructions do a "Google" for " delete cookie Internet Explorer " , Firefox or whatever browser you are using.

    Then delete the cookie "drivingtest.ie"

When you next visit it will be your first time. (AS far as they are aware)

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Tried to apply online numerous time, got that error message each time. Finally it worked, and I then discovered that you cannot pick your own date and time afterall.

Sent them an email complaint. Got a total bull**** response.

Whatever though, its the shoddy service I have come to expect from the public service.

Thanks everyone! I did e-mail in the end and they called me yesterday saying it's all gravy. For anyone that it happened/happens to again, the woman on the phone said if it does happen again to just leave it for an hour or two and go back and try again. In that time, their computer system will have closed all open applications that have gotten the error message.
