Story guys. Ive been DJin around dublin for that last few months and Ive decided I really want to get into the production side of things as well. Id appreciate it if I can get some feedback and any advice on my first track

    http://soundcloud.com/blindasfcuk/brian-sextom-the-donkey-punch

Id also like to hear any advice for someone who is literally just startin out on a DJ/Producer career? I've been DJin since Jan at different nights in Dublin and Limerick and now Ive just started my own techno night as well but I really want to crack into the production side. If/when I start producing quality tracks what the best course of action to get noticed? Hound DJ's for airplay on the radio and other cluib nights? Send links to all the labels around? Or do people just generally get noticed if they are good enough? If anyones had any bit of success Id really appreciate some advice.

    Cheers

try posting in the dance music production section, specifically this thread

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055583801

had a quick listen to it on laptop speaker.the bass is far too loud after the main breakdown.it totally drowns out the kick.

you have no snare in there at all and as such the drums dont drive things along, also the shaker is behind the beat and is causing it to drag.

some nice ideas/melodies but the execution could use some work.

post it over in that forum and ill grab a listen to it on my monitors later on.
also maybe offer some feedback to other eoples tracks aswell so they dont think your just gonna grab comments and run

Cheers for the feedback man. I really appreciate it. I havent really used my soundcloud page that much before only for hosting DJ demos so Ive only just upgraded my account so I can replace tracks based on the feedback and started to follow others now in the last few days. A few people have told me to leave comments for others in order to get feedback so ill defo be taking that on board

The levels is a bit of a problem for me alright I had to mix it with my headphones so it wont ramp up that well to speakers. I was advisied to bump the bass up a little a the main breakdown do you think I should sidechain the bass or drop the levels?

well whoever advised you that is wrong.if you want to create more impact after the break best to drop the volume of the breakdown a few db's so that when it comes back in it seems louder.

sidechaining stuff isnt the holy grail of production.if the bass isnt interfering with your kick there may not be any need to sidechain.the simple fact is that the levels of the bass is too loud after the breakdown so turn it down.

the beat is also very basic so maybe work on it to and itll help improve.

but seriously post it over in the other forum and youll get alot more advice
