Roaming with 3

I have an iphone 4 and just recently moved to three Ireland. I'm going to UK in a few weeks for a few days and I have a few queries that I am finding it hard to figure out the answers to. I was hoping those who have more experience with these things might be able to help :)

    1. Can I call/text Irish numbers from my flexi units when I am in UK? If so, do I have to do anything or sign up to anything?

    2. Can I call/text UK numbers from my flexi-units when I am in the UK? If so do I have to do anything or sign up to anything?

    3. Can I use my internet allowance (2GB) when I am in the UK? If so do I have to do anything or sign up to anything?

    4. Is it possible to tether my laptop to my iphone using something like mywi when I am in the UK to do skype calls, or generally surf around?

I know these questions probably keep coming up but I am getting conflicting answers from people and am a bit confused re the differences between roaming and 3 home and all of the other categories that three seem to have. Bad and all as O2 were, I was at least used to their particular brand of incomprehensible tarrifs

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1 - Yes you can, so long as you are signed up to Three Like Home.

    2 - Dunno. I suspect not.

3 - Yes, again you need to be on Three Like Home

4 - Since it's using data, it should be ok so long as you are on Three Like Home.

I would like to ask a question as well, in case anybody knows the answer.

I will be going to the US for a few weeks starting Thursday, and have an AT&T sim ready and waiting for me. However, it looks like Three won't get around to unlocking the phone for another few days. Will I be able to roam in the US on my current plan (the smallest iPhone tarrif) or do I need to sign up to something? I heard word of having to pay €60 for full roaming?

Essentially yes to everything and no, you don't have to sign up to anything. You just have to roam with 3UK.

In addition, it is perfectly in order to tether by Bluetooth or wifi.

One correction: you cannot send SMS to UK numbers without incurring a charge at all times.

So you can call them out of your units but not text?

    Hi,
Any one knows what are the data rates in other EU countries (not Three Like Home)? Can't find anhything on their site except "Our roaming destinations are constantly changing so please call 1913 for the latest list of countries in each band".
    Cheers

Yes, that's cool, thanks. I actually saw it but it doesn't say anything about the data rates (except for "max €7/MB to use web").
So what this means in reality? You will be charged maximum €7 per MB but what is minimum or average? What is the typical rate? And what does it depend on (to get maximum, average and minimum variations)?
