Just out of college and working in a salon getting minimum wage, but another girl recently started and she had 4yrs experiance in salons & spa's and she is only getting minimum wage too!! I thought she should be getting alot more than minimum wage with all that experiance, i just would like to know how much should a fully qualified therapist should be getting paid? Thanks

Minimum pay since that is what people are willing to accept appearantly. There is no other pay then minimum pay; anything beyond that is a question of how little people are to pay vs. how many company are hiring.

There is a Registered Employment Agreement in force in Ireland, with regard to working in hair dressing, with specified rates for Dublin and the rest of the country. If you and they are working as hair dressers, then you must be paid the rate specified. If you are working as nail technicians, receptionists, etc, then you are not covered by the agreement, and must get a minimum of minimum wage.

Don't know about beauty therapists but I know plenty of fully qualified accounts getting paid minimum wage these days, thats after 7 years worth of exams!

Any beauty salon who has an interest in keeping their staff will pay commission on top of minimum wage. A good beautician would be looking at 10-15% ex-VAT on all services and probably around 5% on retail. Certified therapists (for electrolysis etc.) would generally have a salary above minimum wage and possibly shift bonuses as well. If you're lucky you can make a small bit extra in tips.
