Getting disability allowance back after loss due to means?

I'm wondering how I would go about this? I'm considering renting my home but if I do it would put me over the means limit for my disability allowance. If I moved back in time or sold ( I really want to sell but now isn't the time), does anyone know about the obstacles that would face me if I attempted to get the allowance back?. In this age of austerity I fear they may be reluctant to return this allowance even though my disability is real. Would appreciate any advice.
