Wing shirts

I'm in the market for a wing shirt, white, double cuff. I'll most likely pick one up in Lewins but before I do I'm just wondering if anyone has seen any on sale anywhere.

Also looking for bowties - a real ones not a ready tied ones.

Is it wrong to wear a non-black bowtie with a black Tux? I think I can get away with something outlandishly bright but is it a major satorial faux pas? :o

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Every time I think of decent shirts I think of Thomas Pink. You've probably already checked them though?

Are you definitely after a winged shirt? I really do prefer a Prince of Wales collar for evening wear. Lewin's & Pinks are always a safe bet. John Taylor on Baggot St may have something to, I'm pretty sure I saw a sale sign on the windows if that's of any use :)

I once had my bow tie made of the same pink material as my dates dress.

I think I got away with it. It's nice to be able throw in a bit of colour, but sartorially speaking, you're to match to your lapels or your waistcoat. As the saying goes, 'black tie is tradition'... :pac:

Also... red bow ties shout 'I BOUGHT THIS IN DEBENHAMS FOR 20 QUID' before showing off your matching cummerbund.

Yep, a wing collar for sure. I'll have lots of occasions to wear it again. Matching my partners dress was the inital thought I had for the bow. I've done this a few times in the past but with normal suits rather then a dinner jacket. Guess the only way is to try it out and see what it looks like. I saw some hand painted silk ties recently and I'm thinking about getting someone to customise one for me.

    /Muses on a RED CUMBERBUND. Ooooh!

I'm afraid I'm completely against the very bright bow-tie look, I keep expecting them to start twirling or flashing.:)

Black bow tie might be safe, but I'd rather look classic than even vaguely comedy.:p

    Try louis copeland also.

I wouldn't mind a bright bowtie as long as the material is of good quality.

Or even just go for a subtle pattern
