am hoping someone can help me with this...
I have recently been placed on an ongoing assignment by a recruitment company. I am working 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week at an hourly rate of €12.00 per hour. I have been informed by the recruitment agency that “Holiday pay is included in your hourly pay and we encourage our temporary staff to take proper holiday breaks. Your hourly rate includes payment on account sufficient to cover four week’ paid holiday per year”
I have worked with many recruitment agencies over the years and have always been allowed extra holiday pay, it is calculated by multiplying the amount of hours worked in a week by 8%, and bank holidays are paid on the provision that you have worked a total of 40 hours in the previous four weeks....but this particular agency dont seem to subscribe to that ethos....does anyone know what my rights are?

Strange. Never heard of this situation, but probably not uncommon in this day and age. I would check with NERA, or Citizens Information.

The 8% rule is only one of the three rules that apply to holiday pay. It basically depends on how many hours you've worked up to that point.

8% if you have worked less than 117 hours in a month

1.75 days per month, if you have worked more than 117 hours in a month

4 weeks if you have worked more than 1300 hours in a year.
