Mattress for a 6ft 5in x 4ft 6in bed?

    hi all,

    Measured the current mattress in our new house last night and it comes in at a whopping 6ft 5 in long by 4ft 6 in wide - what is that, a super super king??!

    Anyway, I wanted to get a new mattress for it, or possibly a memory foam topper but they all seem to only be available in much smaller sizes.

    Help!

    Actually, having had another look - it seems to be somewhere in between a double and a king size - is that correct?

    Yep, 4' 6" wide is a standard 'Double Bed' size and 6' 6" long is a King Size ( or Super King, which is the same length but wider than King Size ). Weird to see those two measurments mixed together, not sure where you'd get mattresses for that!

    what is standard king size width, is it wider than 4ft 6in?

    I'm hoping that a king size mattress topper will be ok - better make sure I can bring it back if not though ;)

    Double, King Size, Super King Size etc. seems to change from country to country.

    But in Ireland and the UK, the sizes are as follows ( as far as I know! ) :

    Double ( or Queen ) : 4'6" wide by 6' long ( or 6'3" long )
    King Size : 5" wide by 6'6" long
    Super King Size : 6' wide by 6'6" long.
