    Hi all,
So Im at the end of my tether at the moment and just thought I'd put up a post here on the offchance.....

Im a forth year student in NCAD on Thomas Street doing the BA Degree Education course! Our final year TP is just about to start, with some of our lot back since monday. I had secured a school months ago not too far from where Im renting and although there were a few problems with their lack of communication and lack of contact with my prospective host teacher, I was all set to meet with her and the other members of staff on Wednesday and begin my placement on Thursday!

However, to my dismay I found out this evening that the management of the school in question have decided at the last minute that they dont wish to accomodate me and phoned my year head to inform him that they wouldnt have a place for me! :( Im disgusted that they didnt even have the decency to call me themselves and left it to someone else to break it to me!

So after my evening of complete and utter panic I now face the prospect of spending all day tomorrow making phone calls to every school within reach of me AGAIN after being informed that they didnt have places before the summer, to beg for a placement by the end of the week!!!! :(
A long shot but if anybody knows of a lovely art teacher in Dublin who would like to be freed up of 11hours of teaching time for four weeks, please let me know! No school=no forth year!
    Any help or info appreciated!

Based in the northside of Dublin by the way... Clarehall!
And as a student bum, have only Dublin Bus to ferry me around!

Contact 'rough' schools. Few people choose them for their Dip. year and experience in one will really stand to you.

Is there any way you can switch to the two days a week for the year TP? It's much less disruptive than the block at the very start of the year.

    No chance Im afraid!
Our forth year consists of two solid blocks of TP that are non negotiable.
Very inconvienient for host teachers especially at such short notice but sadly there are teaching council requirements that have to be met! :(

    mrboswell,

I just got word in the last few minutes that a local school in Swords has taken me on for Monday and as Im sure you can understand, I had to jump at the offer since nothing else had definately come up!

I really appreciate the help offered by the lovely people on boards.ie, in particular spurious and mrboswell. Huge thanks and well wishes!

    Kim.

Not a bother - glad you got sorted.

The reason I said early next week was that I mentioned it to the Art teacher and he said that he would want to talk to you as he took someone on at the last minute a few years back and unfortunately they were a disaster - certainly not assuming that you are!

The very best of luck for the busy year ahead.
