I need to start researching my options for who will care for Clara when I return to work. I am in Cork, but if I could get a general idea of the cost of the various options, creche, childminders etc, that would be great.
Also as regards hiring a childminder, what are the pitfalls to watch out for?

Hi fi, I'm in Kilkenny and found the childcare costs for nursery's ranges from €130 - 165 for the exact same hours
Luckily the nursery charging €130 were the one's with all highly qualified staff and the facilities I was happiest with.

I've heard locally childminders charge roughly the same figure.

In Dublin here but i have heard Cork prices are similar.
Creche is about 1000/1100 a month and childminders 40-50 euro a day.
If you get someone in to your house you are subject to employment law and need to pay prsi and minimum wage.

I hadn't thought of that aspect!
