Boot Release Mechanism - 2003 Toyota Avensis

    Hi All,

I have a 2003 Toyota Avensis (4 Door Saloon, Manual, 1.6 Petrol, Luna Aura) and a few days ago the actuator mechanism that releases the boot door when you press on the pad just above the registration plate failed. A quote from a Toyota dealership came in at €200 for the part ex labour!!

I've sent a request to Mick's Garage to see if they have the part second hand. Does anyone here know where else might be a good place to source this actuator second hand?

    Thanks for any assistance.

You know you can open the boot with the key yeah?

    Have you diagnosed this fault?

Are you sure that the actuator as you call it is the problem?

Yes, I can open the boot door with the key, no problem there!

Mech1, I have taken this to my local garage and they checked it out for me. The actuater/motor is totally dead. Could this be taken to an Electrical Rewinds I wonder?? They may be able to fix it.

    Cheers.

No, just buy a second hand part, and check for water getting on to it when in place. try trainors in the north.traynors? check golden pages for correct spelling.
