Cycling with a hernia

    Has anybody eve had a hernia before?

    Got told by the doctor I have one in the groin/lower stomach area

    It's certainly pretty sore, but trying to judge recovery time for the more than likely upcoming operation

    You need to discuss it with the surgeon but as a ballpark expect to be off the bike for 12 weeks afterwards.

    crikey, thats quite some time isnt it

    im clinging to the hope that im catching it early and ill only need keyhole,

    fingers crossed anyway :confused:

    If you push it too soon after there quite a risk of the hernia recurring so whatever they advise you stick to it !

    As mentioned by Rob, you really need specialist advice. He's given you a fair idea of the sort of time you may be off the bike. Unfortunately I can't leave this thread open, as we are not allowed to discuss such medical matters.
