Do these products work?

My car is using up quite a bit of oil. It probably a valve seal problem or something like that.

I came across these products and was wondering if anyone of you have tried it and does it work??

And similar engine maintenance products... Such as fuel injector cleaners and such. Do these really work and clean up your engine, make it run smoother and more responsive and better?

I would be fairly skeptical about these kind of things. In my opinion I think it's all placebo effect.

However, the main way to check and they probably do work, is to get your emissions checked before and after.

I'll try out their fuel injector cleaner next time I refill and see if it makes the engine any smoother or reduces the fuel consumption. Then I'll use the engine flush and use the oil leak/oil smoke thing to see if it solves the excess oil consumption problem of my car...

It's great if it works, if not I'll have to just live with it or look into replacing the gaskets on my engine.

Though before all that I've gotta do the compression test on the engine to see why it's using so much oil...

Well if it's not worn, gaskets and PCV are the usual culprits.
Poor running can strip the oil off the cylinder walls and dilute the oil with petrol. If the injectors are dirty then cleaner could help the running.
Old engines seals can be plumped up a bit with some additive, it helps restore rubbery plastic stuff, I think it works.

One of the guys here posted about some cleaners he was going to get, can't remember the brand name but I *think* they are distributed by Kia garages.
Ah - BG cleaners they were called.
The downside of cleaners is they can loosen coked deposits that then end up blocking the filter screeen connected to the oil pump.
I would advise using only a mild cleaner and even then unless really necessary. Get any leaking gaskets replaced and PCV cleaned. Depending on how much oil you use and how expensive, you might make the cost back!
BTW have you got any fumes from leaking / burning oil? Put your health first and get it fixed pronto.

    Cheers for the info.

I think it's the rocker cover gasket that's leaking and apparently I'll have to replace the whole cover as I can't just get a replacement gasket which is a bit mad as the new cover costa 200quid...

I'm hoping that wynns stuff will restore the gasket seal and stop it leaking. Though I'll find out what exactly is wrong after I've done the compression test.

The fuel injector cleaner says to pour in a bottle into an empty tank and fill it up. So i'ld say it's pretty diluted. It'ld be good to see if it improves the mpg and makes the engine more responsive and sharper...

Can't really see any visible smoke though the exhaust is very sooty for a petrol engine (it looks like a diesel exhaust!) and it does smoke if you rev the engine high... So it could be burning too much oil and petrol...

Bardahl no smoke will help with worn seals and the like.

Just get some gasket paper and some of that rubber gasket and cut a template out of the old one

Like you can make your own gasket?
Mechanics of yore used to do it all the time.
