Car insurance

Hi guys, I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of some cheap car insurance?

I'm 25, been driving an Audi A3 for 2 years under my own name with Quinn Direct. I've made no claims and have no penalty points yet for some reason they've decided to give me a renewal quote of 1300 euro, which is 200 euro more than last year. The only difference between now and last year is that I've moved to Dublin. Surely that doesn't deserve to have 200 euro added to my insurance!

I've been looking around at different companies but everything is over 1000 euro. The best that I thought I had found was with Axa, where I was able to put in the 3 years that I was driving under my mam's name before I got my own insurance. But unfortunately, I could only ever afford to pay for a few months at a time so I never drove one consecutive year, so none of that experience counts apparently!

So far I've tried AXA, FBD, Allianz and 123.ie, which is giving me the cheapest option of 1015 euro fully comprehensive. I've tried Aviva too, but apparently I've to call them as they're unable to give me a quote at this time! Has anyone got any suggestions?

Try Tesco, the will give you quote on three levels on policy, you can get a quote instantly online as well. They were €200 cheaper with a quote for me

Every year theres about 50 threads on motors about this issue.

TBH I'm amazed people are still surpirsed by it For as long as I've been driving (and a lot longer before that) renewals often come in higher than the previous years price. Theres a significant number of people who will just renew at the price given . Most people will shop around , which will include their current insurer. That price will probably be lower than the renewal so theres a good chance they will get the business anyway, it just depends at what price.

The moral of the story is that this regularly happens and you should shop around, regardless of whether your renewal price is higher or lower than last year.

Well, that's what I'm doing. I've just never experienced the price going up before. I thought that at 25 and with a couple of years no claims discount I was past the point where I'd be considered as a boy racer! I checked out Tesco insurance and they're giving me a quote for 1060. They actually have some pretty good features even in the Value option, so I think it's either them or 123.ie.

Well I just cut the value of my car in two last times i renewed and it came to €700, two years when i strarted driving it was €2300 with allianz been with 123.ie since, theres no point in having a high value as you won't next to near it if you claim, would you consider going to third party fire and theft basically the same, if you never claim your wasting your money

Well to be honest, I don't even know what my car is worth. I've been putting in 1500. I'd rather have fully comprehensive, but I've noticed that there's not much difference between the prices of the two.

I wouldnt make a claim on my insurance unless the car was stolen or completely wrecked, why people claim for broken windscreens and the like is beyond me, do that and prepare to be assraped on your premium the next time its up for renewal

most policies have windscreen cover and you do not lose your no claims bonus.

The Tesco one still seems the best option right now. In the Value option they offer:
    Comprehensive Cover
    Uninsured driving protection
Breakdown Assist for Ireland & UK
Third party "driving other cars" cover
No loss of NCD for fire or theft claims
New car replacement if yours is written off
€500 Min excess, reduced if you use our approved repairer
Cover for in car entertainment equipment

I didn't want to have to pay over 1000 euro but I guess it's looking that way.

I found a big drop in insurance quotes online when changing locations. Dublin was always much higher than wicklow for me. It makes sense really.

Also advise to try insure.ie and 25plus.ie. I had my old audi a3 insured with insure.ie and it was around 1k fully comp and i'm 24 with 1 year ncb.
