hi all just looking for a bit of advice,I went to the dentist last monday, have had 3 fillings done by the dentist already but this time when I went she gave me a needle to numb the area and I nearly jumped off the seat with the pain of it,I never experienced that before when getting an injection to numb the area,it was unbelievably sore this time,I have really bad pain in my mouth now over that side when I open my mouth wide enough and also when I press down on a certain part of my cheek, most likely where the injection went in on the inside i'ts extremely sore and I also have a bruise on my face from her pulling my mouth out far enough to access the tooth.Do yous think I should do anything about this or just let it go?I know its not normal to still be in pain but don't know if I would be wasting my time making a big deal out of it,any advice much appreciated, thanks very much for reading.smile.gif

Was she working on top teeth or bottom teeth? Did it feel like an electric shock?

The electric shock is the needle bouncing off the nerve. It's quite common cos the dentist has to 'guess' where the needle is going cos he can't see into your jaw. Bruising is also quite common with this injection as bleeding can occur which then clots and bruises. The clot tethers the tissues which makes it sore to open and close the mouth. Don't worry it will resolve after a few days but it can be uncomfortable.
