Just goes to show there is always hope with your golf game.
For the past 9 weeks I havent been able to hit the ball out of my way, loosing at least 2 or 3 balls a round (8 in Lough Erne!)...not breaking 30 points.

Captains first round yesterday and I shoot a 69 with a triple on the 9th from the middle of the fairway with an 8i and a double on 18 from similar with a 9i.

7 GIR but only one birdie but delighted to have found my game again....after 8 days in a row of 3+ hours on the range each day after work....

Bottom line, stick at it lads.

    <end-of-anti-rant>

(though if I collapse next week I will be back here be-moaning my game again no doubt! :))

69 is excellent what day did you play on as anytime from Sat afternoon tee time was excellent? What handicap are you?
I played with the First round leader who shot a 64 - extremelly steady all the way round and has a good temperment so think he has good chance on Sat.
I had the worst start Imaginable - started with 7 - trees on right, hit out thought just over bunker on right but rolled back in- take no sand go over green onto path :(
4 putted the 6th from being on green just missed birdie putt across green as usual ball flies past hole.
I had 76 and think I am first sub - going out friday night so if get call for early start shall not be there.

Hit the ball better than I have done all year yesterday. Driver, irons, everything went well... finished with 25 stapleford points. Gobsmacked. Just could not score. One holes 3, 4 & 5 I hit booming drives right down the middle, walked off with 6, 6, 7 respectively... I can't remember more than just 2, maybe 3, bad shots I hit all day, really. Can't understand it.

I was 11 on sat, only a small shower or rain but windy as hell, left with a wedge to the 7th and an 8 to the 10th, but the 12th was a driver and 7i!

I'm 9 at the moment, leader is low enough right?
Greens were lightening and I could never manage to leave myself an uphil put for birdie, so had to tap them all and hope!

Sure you can play in the 3 club comp instead :p

Interesting I might you know you are then as you must been right behind me as I was out at 10.45am - you are either one of the young very good players (grange meaning of young) or did one of your group have a 67? You must hit the ball a mile to only have an 8 iron to 10th (i hate that hole). I only had a half lob wedge to 12th but I can be all over the place (which i generally was).
    Leader had a 64!!

    "Young?" </wipes tear from eye>
Im afraid not...though as you say, young for grange is under 50 :)
My triple on 9 helped with the drive on 10 a little bit!

I was the best in my group, one of the others had a nett 72 off 2.

I think the smart money has to be on that 64, I'm hoping I can get into top 10 and maybe get some cash back on the tote!

Lets just say I enjoyed it 5,8 starts then 3 pars. Yep on 18th hit one of my best drives of the day - prob too good only sand wedge 2nd but blocked by trees on right - did not get it off the ground as ran it straight into the river :D
2 lads I played with started 3,3 then had a couple of bad holes to knock them out of contention- not disasters though.
