I believe it is section 88A, if an employer takes on someone that is long term unemployed they get a double deduction for their PRSI and Salary costs

It is indeed S.88A - but it didn't come up last year. It has been around since 6 April 1998.

The new employee has to have been unemployed for at least 36 months at the time of starting the job.

The length of time changed alright last year I think. The employee needs to be unemplyed for 12 months now to get the double deduction and not 36 months.

    See IT59 on Revenue website

Whoops! That's what happens when you read legislation too quickly. You get the double deduction for three years. The person has to have been unemployed for at least twelve months.
