First Year Science Timetable

    hi all,

I'll be starting in DCU as a mature student doing the Common Entry to Science course in first year.

I have been trying to find the timetable for first year science and retrieved the below from DCU's website

    http://www.dcu.ie/timetables/feed.php3?prog=SCI&per=1&week1=1&week2=12&hour=1-28&template=student

Now my question is to folks that have already done the first-year science:

Firstly, is this the correct timetable?
Secondly, do you know if the timetable changes significantly year on year? (not from first to second year obv but from the previous calendar year)

Reason I ask is that I'll be a mature student with pretty much no grants so i'm trying to figure out what days I could work part-time! Judging by that link Wednesday and Friday look good so I'm hoping that doesn't change!!

    cheers in advance...

Yeah that timetable is pretty much the one I had last year. I got in as a mature student too and I'm going into 2nd year in October. I don't get your 2nd question. Do you mean does the 1st year timetable change each year? I don't think so. For working, the only classes that are compulsory are the labs so make sure you go to those. You get credits for the maths tutorial too so you'd best go to that. Besides them theres no harm in missing a lecture or two. For example some days there'll be a 1 or 2 hour break then a single lecture before the end of the day so you can always work instead of going to that end of the day lecture. Either way you're either gonna have that timetable or a timetable similar to it so you'll have half days where you can work.

    Good luck.

EDIT: Remember that you get easy credits for doing the online homework assignments in chemistry and biology so setup an account to masteringbiology.com and masteringchemistry.com as soon as the lecturer gives you the code. Honestly at the end of the year I only needed to get 20% on the exam to pass the chemistry course because the homework assignments were worth 20% of the marks for the year. The assignments are dead easy since you do them at home in front of the computer and can lookup anything you don't understand.

Keep in mind that the link you provided is only Semester 1's timetable.

Make sure you check it again before you start, as timetables have a habit of being shuffled about a lot before the start of lectures

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
