    Hi

I'm currently living on the northside and am trying to teach my partner some driving basics before he goes to get lessons on the roads, but i cant seem to find a quiet carpark that we can go and drive around for an hour or so in the evenings or on weekends.
    Can anyone help me out?

Isn't there an unwritten rule that you should never try to teach your partner to drive, you're going to end up having arguments. ;)
I've heard that a few times

    Northside Shopping Center?
    It's a massive car park.

An industrial estate is a better option though

Best place ever to learn on is up beside the Ballycoolin Industrail Estate. If going up past Damastown football pitches take a right turn off and that's the road. Goes for ages and has 3 or 4 roundabouts. Best time to go is on weekends when all factories are closed. Also best place to start is where the entrance to the 'Target' factory is and follow the road.

Baldoyle industrial estate after 7pm. Just past the racecourse pub and lidls, good place to practice, will get the odd car and at some times a boy racer acting the maggot. But generally its empty, lots of long stretches and corners and cul de sacs for practicing reversing ect.

They both sound great, ill give them a try this weekend.
Would the Northside shopping center carpark be open after hours during the week?
There is that unwritten rule and i have a feeling that we arent going to be the exception but its only going to be one or two lessons before i hand him over to a real instructor!

The Baldoyle industrial estate is great - gone there lots of times to practice going around corners etc, you'll find lots of other learners up there as well!

But yes - learning from a partner is never easy - good luck!

The industrial estate is a great place to drive around. You could also try Clongriffin Town Centre. It has a nice wide road so should be able to get into 3rd or 4th gear. There is also a car park down there that is not too busy.

Anyone know anywhere on the southside near Sandyford that would be good for learning to drive, (carpark/ Industrial Estate)?

There is an industrial estate across the road from Glasnevin Cemetary too. I took my niece there and she found it really helpful. If you are coming from town/Phibsboro, turn left at Woodies. If you are coming from Finglas, turn right at Woodies.

Sandyford Industrial estate in behind the car showrooms across from The Beacon is very quite on the weekends, particularly on Sundays.

edit: may be busy Saturday until after lunch as all the car places shut by 2pm I think
