There is a full metal BAP in the works, might be worth waiting for over the Tanaka which is plastic.

The Fal is available in many variants, there are a few makes, someone else like 'bullets' would be able to tell you which is better.

Well i'd like them to be as close to the irish army issue as possible!!

so take off the bits that arent issue, add bits that are. hey presto, you did it yourself!

They dont sell airsoft guns in 'x army config, or y army config.

Parts are available, lift a finger and its yours ;)

Welcome to Airsoft, Its bloody addictive!

Tanaka, Star, Classic Army, King Arms are all airsoft manufactures that
make the guns your interested in.

I would LOVE some deactivated gear but its a lot of Hassle and you need Letters
of Permission etc from the Gardai etc and have de-activated certs etc.

When I was the FCA they used the MKIII Bren Gun which is not available.
But the MK1 and MKII are from only one place.

Shootnscoot (site listed in previous posts) do the MKI and MKII for nearly 700 GBP
(I am hopeing to get one for Christmas if the import ban has not been enforced as its the next time I will get a bonus in work and have spare cash)
The MK1 looks more like the MKIII than the MKII does.

The BAP can be got in both wood colored grip and the black ABS/Plastic version. The Markings on the Tanaka one are the not the same as the Irish
one and there are some minor differences in the looks, and no lanyard loop etc. As already mentioned there is a Full Metal version of the BAP due
sometime in the future if you want to wait. The Plastic version feels
a little light and delicate but fires ok.

    th_IMG_0743.jpgth_IMG_0741.jpgth_IMG_0733.jpgth_IMG_0740.jpgth_IMG_0742.jpg

As FALS go, I used the IMBEL version of the FAL (as far as I can tell)
which had the Auto setting on it, The older version had a wood stock but ABS hand guard with grenade launcer sites, the newer version had ABS stock and Handguard and NO grenade sight. Both had 3 air vent slots.
Also the post type fore-sight was Solid.

As Airsoft go there are several types of FAL/L1-A1 out there but NONE
are exactly the same as the Irish used.

The Flash Eliminators between the different brands are not compatible
    nor are the magazines.

I have the King Arms FAL, The King Arms L1-A1 and the Star L1-A1
I have a Classic Army SA-58 on order. And hope to get more!! someday.

The King Arms FAL's finish is not as good as the others. But the Flash eliminator looks like the Irish one and the handguard has 3 vents.
Barrell is shorter though, and post type foresight protectors are different. It does not
have the little feature behind the trigger, and the plastic on the stock and handguard are crap!
The Electric motor on them are great.
The Body Locking lever is only cosmetic on the King arms Fal but works
on the L1A1's. The King Arms FAL also does not have a carrying handle.

The King Arms Fal was one of the first airsoft guns I purchased.
I had initially wanted to actually buy and licence a real one chambered
in .308 or else .22Lr but importing one and trying to licence something
like that was too much hassle. more than I was willing to put up with
when it came to dealing with my local garda logic. Buying an airsoft gun
was hassle free and no need for a licence/permission and no need to go near the
gardai as long as it fell under 1j of energy.
The Handguard on the King arms FAL is horrific though!!! if you buy one
be prepared to be disapointed with the looks of it. Other than that its fine.

The Star finish is great on the gun. FANTASTIC externals but the internals
such as the microswitch on the trigger and fire selector are not reliable.

The King Arms L1A1 finish is good too. It features the best of the other
guns, and has electric blow back.

The Classic Army is a replica of the Civilian and Modern SA-58
made by DS Arms : http://www.dsarms.com/FAL-SA58%20Rifles/products/8/

King Arms also do versions with Fold-able skeleton stock which I must get at some stage.
and also Classic army do the OSW but this means you need to have the gun battery mounted
externally to the gun. So you can strap on lots of tacta-crap onto it!!
Good Luck trying to get one though. Bloody difficult trying source one!

I would recommend purchasing the King Arms L1-A1.
You can check on ebay and replace the handguard with one from a real gun.
And with a bit of work (and glue) you may be able to buy a different flash eliminator to fit on it.

Here's a pic of the ones I have.

Still waiting for an airsoft version of the Gustav SMG though!

(Sorry for such a long reply...Bullets is in love with Fals and will use any opportunity to mention them here
    and post pics!!)

No new laws that I'm aware of.
There is an import ban due but at the moment nobody has been informed
on when it is going to be enforced.

it means you wont be able to buy airsoft guns
from outside of Ireland But You will still be able to buy
    them from Shops within Ireland.

I am hopeing to get one of these in the very near future
its shorter than any of the ones I currently have:
(Just crossing my fingers when it arrives its the exact version I wanted as there
are other versions with longer barrels and still called carbines)
