Pub games idea - premiership

    Hi Guys

i am looking for some ideas on a football game that would encourage customers to come into the pub every week to take part in the game.

Last year we did a game called "last man standing" in which you picked a new team every week and if they won you continued only being able to pick the same team once. So obviously got much more difficult as you progressed.

I am wondering if anyone know any better games as this got a bit stale at the end?

Thanks in advance and a pint for the best suggestion!!! There is usually a 2 euro entry fee every week so a game that accumulates this for a bit would be best.

    R

We do a fundraiser for local gaa club where we do the ten fixture on the weekend and ask each person to predict score in each game. For each match 6 points for exact result, 4 for result and 1 score right 3 for correct result but wrong scores and 1 point for 1 correct score and 0 if you get all wrong. 2 euro to enter and we have a weekly prize and a league too that has end of year prizes.

    So if you predicted :

Blackburn 1 Arsenal 2 at weekend, 6 points

Liverpool 2 West brom 0, 4 points as you got result and 1 score right (actual result was 1-0)

Blackpool 1 Fulham 1, 3 points, correct result (actual result 2-2)

Spurs 3 Wigan 1 you get 1 point, 1 correct team score (actual 0-1)

The charge of €2, is it everybody at the start and nothing more or every week you're still in?
If it's every week, this is very unfair on people who remain in and don't win.
Example 10 people do it and everybody pays up front (20 pot) so let's say winner gets the full 20 (or 15 & 5 to r/u) depending on how you'd do it.
Every week pot will be way higher but you will have some very ****ed off guys when they are in for say 8 weeks and then go out.
It costs them 8 x €2 and they finish say 4th, guy who exits on 1st week also gets nothing but only cost him €2.
It's unfair especially when there's only 2/3 left and they themselves are just adding to the pot.
I've done both and after hearing all the comments, decided there's no fairer way of doing it apart from fee up front.

LMS the problem is getting the people back in when they are out.
You could do an extra life an entry and then they get an extra free go when they go out.
You could do something like picking players to score each week, only allowed pick the same player once a month, points for a goal, 2 or hat-trick.
You could tweak it with things like clean sheet extra points, lose points for booking/sending off etc.
If you do one every month at least they have to come back in for the new one evry 4-5 weeks.
You could also do the LMS once every month but it can be messy with internationals/cups etc.

Predict the score is hard to get right but at least you get points every week and can't be eliminated.
I'd agree the LMS has been flogged to death at this stage by everybody.

You could probably go down the route of a bingo type thing:

Take the live match of the day (Super Sunday/Saturday 3pm etc.)

€2 per entry; where you have to predict first player to score, first player to be booked, Correct Score, Will there be a penalty, Number of substitutions/injury time minutes; Number of corners or whatever markets take your fancy, try not to get them too related though and stick to around 5 or less.

That way they have loads of things to follow in the match, all the more reason for them to stay and actually watch it!

Match all 5 win the jackpot, you could probably then also put anyone with 4 correct into a draw for some sort of prize (at the end of month/season or when jackpot is won.) 3/2/1 up ang better luck next week. All the time rolling-over the jackpot when not won.

First team to score 13 goals 5e a man.If your team go over 13 you go back to 10 for the next week.(premiership games only match called or postponed both teams get 2 goals):D

It is kind of the same as Last Man Standing but is different.

Don't have a name for it but basically everybody picks a striker to score that week. If he fails to score that person is eliminated.

Many other formats such as a defender to keep a clean sheet or player to get a yellow card.

One of the problems is Striker, Bookings & clean sheets are all unlimited & can last for a long time unless you make it you can only pick a selection from each team once.
