Hi ,thanks to another thread I had in the forum ,I started to use ubuntu. Cheers!
Been happy with it so far ,as an operating system for general use. But I've noticed a lot of hardware I have doesn't have specific software ,drivers work ok ,but the finer details don't seem to be available.

Is there anywhere I should be looking for third party support for hardware? Any communities that share stuff that might not be available in a google search ?

One thing that comes to mind is my MX mouse wheels ,mouse works fine ,but I'd like to specify certain things and also get buttons work that don't.

    Thanks.

Yeah I have downloaded Ubuntu as well, running it on my second PC (used for just Internet and audio) Have you gone to the hardware manufacturers website and tried to download Linux drivers from there... they may have drivers...

Alternatively you could go through the forums and see if anybody else has come up with a solution.

Cheers ,I tried logitech's site ,but it seems to be windows only supported.

My nvidia card is supported directly by nivdia ,which is nice.

My creative sound card seems to be windows only supported, ubuntu picks it up ok ,but theres some buttons on the external box that don't work.

I must say that ,even though the third party support doesn't seem to be as good ,the ubuntu software starts to outway this. I love the fact that sound software has Last.fm intergrated.

It's definetly worth the investment in learning the differences.

I had similar issues with my PC.. It autodetected my onboard sound card as well. I just need a basic mic and basic sound, so this is not an issue for me. I had issues installing with my wireless network card, so I just wussed out and ran a long cable to the Ethernet port, which was also autodetected.

What are the logitech and creative devices that you have.. you may be able to find someone in a forum who has got it working and benefit from their postings.

Hi ,the creative sound device is a usb external box with optical out / line in / mic in /headphone and a button for surround sound.

The mouse is a logitech MX ,it has a thumb wheel etc.

I'll have a crack at looking through the forum ,I've a ps3 taken apart and trying to fix it aswell at the moment:(
