Transfer of data from Win XP to Win 7

    Hi all,

    Can anyone advise best solution to transfer data form a laptop wth win XP Pro to a Win 7 system.

    Is my only choice to copy to external drive and then transfer, seems to be the longest route.

    Try a crossover cable

    Yea the hard drive option is the easiest way the crossover cable way is more complicated not overly complicated but more so than hard drive or usb device.

    Look up the Windows Easy Transfer tool for Xp-to-7 migrations, it'll let you transfer your files and account configuration in one go.

    If you can get them both on the same LAN then just share a folder on the XP machine and copy all the required data into it. Then access the share from the Win 7 machine and copy everything over.
