Dental Extraction under General Anaesthetic

    Hi,

My mother has quite bad teeth and is looking at the remaining teeth removed and getting implants.

The problem is she has had some very bad dental experiences and has been putting this off for years. She often suffers from dental pain and I know its has started to effect what she will now eat.

Due to some extractions she had in the past that ended badly she will not let anyone extract a tooth unless she is asleep now. From what I can gather her preference would be to go into St James Hospital to have them out but cannot get a referral in the hospital from her dentist who wants to take them out himself.

She has VHI cover and I would like to know what her options are. Is there some expert who can advise her and organise the extractions under general anesthetic?

she can be referred to a dentist who can provide iv sedation or to hospital for a ga for multiple extractions. She'll be waiting a while though
