    Hi everyone,

Lately my Classic has been causing me alot of problems. The first problem is when I am pouring a shot, water leaks from the steam wand! It was a slow drip at first but has developed over time to causing alot of leakage an lately has got really bad!

The second problem is when I am steaming the milk I am getting too many bubbles in it and its causing the milk to splutter so I am no longer able to steam froth for my favorite Latte :( Just wondering if the problems could be related!

Has anyone experieneced this before an if anyone can shed any light on it I wold be very grateful. I am hoping that it will not require sending back for repair and might be something I can sort myself.

    Thanks.

Have you tried asking on the Gaggia users group on yahoo?

Cableguy: regarding the big bubbles of milk problem you mention, I have the same problem with a Gaggia Classic. I have noticed however that is seems to occur at certain times of the year, as if the composition of the milk varies somewhat by season. Don't ask what or why this would be - perhaps its some variation in the cows' dietary intake - but I have noticed that the problem tends to be seasonal and I have not found a solution. When the big bubbles problem arises it is impossible to get smooth even froth from my Gaggia Classic.

Yes Doodee thanks, I have posted to that forum and they have recommended that I descale the system, so I am trying to figure out were to get a suitable de-scaler and also how to back-flush my system.

I've found that Bewleys have the most competitive prices.

Wondering if anyone here can help . While adjusting the OPV on my gaggia , I now have no flow through the brew head. I thought it might be an airlock but If I press both steam and brew switch down I get a flow of water through the steam wand and I can see the water level in the resevoir decrease so the pump is working too.

    Any hep much apreciated

How much did you tighten the OPV?
From the stock setting tt should be no more than 3/4 turn to bring it up to the correct pressure.

Thanks Doodee , I think it was just an airlock , eventually after disassmbling boiler etc I was able to prime pump and get water from brew head.

I think it has definitely made a difference to taste of coffee as well. No to save the shekels and buy a grinder !!
