I passed my test last week, do I call my insurance company now, or do I wait until it needs to be renewed (next April). A friend said some companies send out a cheque to reimburse you the difference in your premium? I'm with tesco insurance.

    Call them

Some companies send you a cheque for the difference, or alternatively give you a discount at renewal.

Under the T&C's of your policy you are normally obliged to inform your insurer of any changes which might affect your policy.........even if it is in your favour :D

They'd be quick enough to take money from you!!

Turns out I have to send them a photocopy of my license, and then they judge whether I'm eligible for a refund or not.

Yeah I got told the same thing, my broker said I had two weeks to send in the photocopy and the refund would be the same amount regardless... I had six months left on my insurance and am getting 28e back... :(

Did everyone get a discount? I was with quinn, passed my test and had 7 months left on the insurance and I was charged an extra 180 to change it to a full licience. Had no claims or anything so dont know why I was charged more!

That sounds like a mistake - did you complain about the increase/ask about their reasoning?

    I got 350 back.
