SATA Interface, IDE Harddrive

    Hi All,
I have a laptop that has a SATA interface for a hardrive. Now I know you can get an adapter to use a SATA hardrive on a IDE laptop interface, but can you get an adapter to use an IDE hardrive on a SATA laptop interface. I have seen larger ones for desktops but can not find one that would suit a laptop.

Might be easier for me to go down the road of buying a SATA hardrive altogether but thought I would try this first.
    Many Thanks.

AFAIK space would be to tight inside laptop to use such and adapter so no.

Better off to pony up the dough and go SATA.

Id say buy the sata drive, and then a caddy for your other drive, everyone needs backups. If you can get a caddy with both ide/sata options, all the better.

I agree with you although a half decent caddy will cost nearly as much as a cheap external drive.

Thanks folks. I have the laptop running on a puppy linux at the moment. It boots from a cd and saves the up dates to a usb flash drive. Only really using for the net. Will keep an eye out for a cheapish SATA drive for it.
    Thanks again.
