Slightly sore hip

I'm trying to get into running a bit (for fitness sake mostly atm), and went for a run in St. Annes this morning, but lately I've been having an issue with my hip at the right joint; it feels slightly sore after a (long-ish) while, depending on how I step.

I didn't notice this soreness at all while running, but did afterwards (I also get it after a while of walking briskly); I also notice that it's more likely for soreness to come about or be noticeable, if my stride is longer.

What could this be, and is it worth seeing someone about it? What can I do to alleviate it?
It's been many months since I first noticed it, it's come and gone depending on how much walking I do, and I'm not that active so it's had plenty of rest; I don't think it's as simple as a stretched ligament or something like that either.
