Can anyone recommend a good website for looking up drug interactions?

Ideally something containing details of the mechanisms of such interactions.

    Cheers :)

If you go onto the Summary of Product Characteristics for any product on medicines.ie there is a section for each drug dealing with interactions.

    FDA website maybe ?
It has a drugs section - not sure if it has the kidnof specifics you are looking for. I'm not sure you'll find a webstie such as you are looking for. You may have to hit the textbooks instead!

This site is excellent but in norwegian. It´s still pretty easy to use, just type the drugs, trade names or generic name in box with a space between them. It accepts english or norwegian. Try a few combinations. If anyone knows an equivalent english site i´d appreciate it too.

You'll probably find a load of public internet sites giving info on drug interactions, but unfortunately it's impossible to vouch for the reliability of their information. SPCs and BNF are obviously good general sources but don't always give you much details - they can be useful to see if there's an interaction but not so good if you need to find out mechanisms or relate the interaction to actual clinical info / individual patients.

Stockley's Drug Interactions is much more detailed and is probably the benchmark resource for clinical use. It is available online but only via subscription - otherwise you could borrow it from your library or buy it if you're mega-keen!

www.accessmedicine.com handy out, some colleges actually buy the subscription for you, so check up on it.
