went ahead to-day and purchased. I was getting some ammo as well for the .22lr. the guys in cork's angling and outdoor center look after me on the price as well in fairness.

Anyway when I got back to the office I wanted to try it out. Placed in on the roof of the car and went back about 50 ft and let go with the magpie call. After about 4 minutes and a few stops and start I had four magpies within 10 ft of the car. Had to abandon the test after another while more crows turned up and guys were coming out of the offices all around to check out what was happening - starting to look like the Hitchcock movie the birds!!

Seriously impressed. Need to check out the fox calls next.

    Happy days

I'll try it in October during the Rut

I filled my back garden with jackdaws, magpies and rooks in 5 minutes with the U-caller. I've lured a few grey crows into range out in the field too.

I tried my one out in the field sunday eve had it out at about 50-60 yds but found that you need to be in direct view of it for the remote to work effectively but i think it's still a great little bit of kit. I take mine out all the time whether it's with my 22 mag or my shotty i always get something with it.

Has anyone had any success with the fox calls on it ? Or is it just more suitable to Magpies and crows?

I got a digital caller from my local shop, it worked on crows the odd time but usually they just flew on and ignored it.
I said this to the shop owner who insisted it works only in the spring/summer months when they are territorial.
Is there any truth to this or do any of you find the the U caller work all year round?
Have any of you found that the crows get wise to it?

    Mac

Went out to one of my permissions last weekend - hiding in the hedge and the new ucaller 20 meters away calling crows. They were quite far away, but within 10-15 minutes I had 6 circling above the caller - dropped two :D.

I tried the magpie call as well - funny enough it seemed that the smaller birds (not magpie) started to imitate the magpie call, and again after 10 minutes a magpie came close, flew over - probably saw me and disappeared.

I changed my location few times and the crow call seemed to attract crows in no time.

Is it legal to use the callers on crows and maggers? I have a lockvogel and it works a treat with magpies, but always thought I couldn;t use it for shooting them:confused:
