this morning more rubbish has been thrown into our land near the road blocking up a water dyke, this has been going on for over a year now and i keep ringing the council to do something about it but didnt even come out to examine it,it seems to be all garage workshop stuff ie.exhausts lawnmowers light fittings broken windscreens etc,its a awful eyesore as i take the stuff away and new stuff lands again, its really getting me mad as its enough to keep things in order without others making life harder, anyone know what i could do to stop this:mad:

If it's happening in the same place regularly, something like a 'Trail Camera' (aka: 'Game Camera')could be very useful for getting photographic evidence of the perpetrators in action:

Lots of them available on eBay and from hunting/shooting websites/shops.

    The rotten so and so's
Do the have to trespass to dump the rubbish if they do get a sign on long the lines of trespassers will be shot or beware of dogs/bull.

Ring your local county councillor or even TD that’s what you voted for em for, ring the coppers kick up a fuss, and threaten the media on the council if they don’t act.

Anything toxic or dangerous to you animals well there is if there is glass there you have.

What about something like this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Taxi-Vehicle-IR-CCTV-System-Camera-Recorder-DVR-/180551628689?pt=UK_CCTV
You could hook it up to a 12v car/tractor battery and use a 16GB like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-32GB-32-GB-SD-SDHC-Flash-Memory-Card-Secure-Digital-/220657806955?pt=Digital_Camera_Memory_Cards
You could set it up beside the dumping site and record the number plate of whoever is dumping.
16 hours recording so you could check each day and if anything has happened stop recording and see who done it.
I know there is a cost involved but it would be worth it to catch and stop the filthy f@*kers doing it.

Just want to add my disgust at this...we have same problems, down our bog road every once in a while someone decides to offload their rubbish, its so frustrating. Someone was regularly dumping in a certain area. I stuck up a camera that only records on motion detection, i got it from here http://www.pakatak.co.uk/shop/prodtype.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=155&numRecordPosition=1. Quality was good enough; The dumping seems to have stopped so i never got anyone except walkers and my dad going in to count the cattle. They were dumping in a drain that leads onto a river which is running into the water supply in our area. When dad rang the council they werent too interested until he said that the waste could be contaminating the water supply which got their attention!
BTW i have no links whatsoever with that website and am only giving the OP my experience

God help anyone I come across engaging in this filthy habit in the countryside - Some CC's are quiet good at taking this problem seriously such as Cork and Wicklow. Others though are a disgrace which is made worse by the fact that one would think the fines gathered would help fill rapidly depleting resources for other needs:mad:

I would put signs up advising that you can be filmed by CCTV.
Then fit some trail/game cams with date and time enabled
If you are clever with the cameras you should have no problems picking up who is dumping the stuff, with the Reg of the vehicle.
These cameras also operate in pitch darkness using infrared lights so they can be caught anytime.

It might be worth putting on a pair of gloves and having a rummage through the rubbish to see if there's anything with an address on it. You'd be surprised, the Langers can be stupid or lazy enough to dump letters etc. in the rubbish

I'm not sure I'd use a trail camera in this instance. It may suit if the road beside the ditch is narrow, very close to the far side of the ditch and the ditch itself has cover on it to mount and hide a trail camera. They have limited ranges of detection. Also, depending on the area where the rubbish is being dumped it may be hit or miss where you place it.

Moultrie i60 is one of my cameras, which uses an Infra Red light source. As you can see from the dog (collie) in the photo below the illumination doesn't spread too far.

    MDGC0005.jpg

    Daylight photo - same camera.

    MDGC0144.jpg

The Moultrie will also take video, but this would be at a lower resolution and therefore not good for capturing important details like plate numbers or faces.

This next one is a Bushnell Trail Sentry camera which uses a flash, which would be highly visible. I haven't all that many night time shots saved now that I look.

(Before the excitable types comment, yes, that is a snare in the wall, no it did not catch the cat, and yes it was removed very quickly).

    SUNP0015.jpg

I don't actually have a daytime shot from that camera but they're decent quality.

Now the other problems for this exercise are each cameras sensor has a detection range, this is shaped like a wedge from a pie. The thin edge starts at the camera and widens as it goes farther away. It will also have a detection range in feet or meters distance from the camera.

Two good sites to read are Chasing Game and TrailCamPro. I've not read either in a fair while, but they used to offer GOOD detailed independent reviews of different cameras. I suspect they still do so.

You will know your own situation best, and hopefully have some more info to go on regarding trail cameras. They can be useful, but they also have their limitations.

There are some very good security cameras, especially by recoynx, but be aware these are quite expensive and bear in mind these are small items easily stolen if found/seen/heard.

last year 8-10 bin bags were dumped at the gate of one of my fields, the council guy could get no evidence i was not really happy with the way he searched them, last week same place, 7 bin bags dirty nappys, beer bottles, but this time the council sent a woman from csi :D, and she got a name and address in a bag , so i hope the dirty bastard enjoys the fine hope its big ,

They don't even have to find a letter with there name in the rubbish now. Another way the council now gets them is to look for receipts that used a creditcard or laser or even better a store loyalty card and track them back from that:D

A few years ago, we found a fridge and some rubbish dumped along our road near a wood, my father found an address from the local housing estate in the rubbish, so he loaded up the fridge and rubbish and dumped it on there front lawn, that sorted the problem fairly quick

Another way to get a name is on a prescription sticker on cough bottle or meds box, if cc aren't helping, get the gloves on and have a look through it, I've had similiar problems and just chucked it back over their garden wall.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
