Hoping to do a 3 day trek in Chaing Mai next weekend. Can anyone recommend good accomodation? I heard that all treks are arranged through the place you stay in Chaing Mai city? Or whats the best area for backpackers to look for accom.?
Also, can anyone suggest somewhere we might see the all-ireland hurling final next weekend?

The UN Irish Bar should have it on. Plenty of accommodation around there too and loads more bars. Try www.travelfish.org for info on treks and where to stay.

Agree with darrenh - UN Irish Bar is a good source of info. Stayed in Chiang Mai for a month last year. Didn't do one of the "traditional" treks, but spent a day in the Mahout conservation area, learning how to train elephants. Expensive (relatively speaking, for Thailand), but worth every cent. They do up to 3 nights stay & include trekking, elephant training, cooking etc., and the rooms are really good standard.

Happy house Chang Mai so laid back. Basic and cheap. Ask for Tom he'll sort you out with loads of stuff to do. we did 3day jeep trek staying in the mountains, the north is so beautiful.
I planned to stay there for a week and ended up leaving nearly a month later!
