What are the odds of the test results showing your water is perfect and you don't need any of their products? Slim I'd say.

hah! I was just gonna post this. :)

You can be sure they'll be pushing their products on every single person that orders the 'freetest'.Or else you might even get an email saying your results are ready and you can pay by credit card to view them.

I ordered one anyway, purely out of interest!

I already know my water has problems but its no harm to have a second opinion especially if its free!

Prices seem a bit unrealistic though. My water has a low pH and their solution is a 10'' cylinder @325 euro (RRP 799??? for a 10'' cylinder!!) and calcite media 78 or 89 euro depending on which page you view ( RRP 160!!)

Hope their test results are more realistic

Likewise, I'm fairly sure our upstairs water (from tank in attic) is not drinkable, so we only use it for brushing teeth, washing, showers etc but interested to know what it contains in case that glow from my face is as a result of mercury and not clean skin ;) I think if they found anything serious, I would then get a second opinion from these guys http://www.irishwatertesting.com/domesticdrinkingwater-page.html
90€ but at least you'd know for sure then!

You're not supposed to drink the water from the attic storage tank in any case. Drink from a mains fed tap only.:p

I've been down this road with several of these water tests from various water treatment companies. It's all horse sh1t to frighten you into buying something. I doubt any of these water samples even see a lab.

Yeah I know that, but I guess I'd still worry a bit about brushing my teeth with it. Maybe your right, I'd be more worried about something like radon which I must also test house for (though we are not in a high-risk area as far as I know).

I concur! I've drank water from rain puddles, eaten dirt from the garden and even fallen asleep in bed with a lighting cigarette in my hand and I'm still here! hehe :D

    NB: The first two I did when I was a 6 y/o ;)

So you're worried without any evidence about mercury in your attic water tank and radon in a house not in a high risk area? Are you sure you're not just a worrier?

My god, were you all born yesterday? This was talked about on joe duffy before, some old woman got completely scammed, then loads of other people rang in who also got scammed, just google it, here's how it works:
Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System Scam - How It Begins

lens3982332_1239564312water_filter.jpg If you are an average homeowner like me, you probably thought about drinking water in two ways - tap water or bottled water. Imagine one day you drive to work and hear an ad on the radio - free home water testing (from the supplier of reverse osmosis water filtration system) PLUS you get a free gift for allowing to get your water tested. What a deal, you think! I guess it wouldn't hurt to test your water - it doesn't cost you anything, plus you are getting a freebie out of it.

So, the happy day comes and a nice salesman walks in the door. He starts talking to you about water and its importance in your life. You listen half-ear - after all, we all know water is important, it makes about 65% of the human body, and you remember some basic things from your high school Chemistry and Biology classes.

You start interrupting him impatiently - let's get the water tested, get your freebie, and be done with it. Oh, no, it doesn't work that way, he needs to do the whole presentation - he is obligated by the company. So, you sit and listen to all the pros and cons about reversed osmosis water filtration system and how their company can literally save your life.

And then the salesman tests the water. Oh, how you wish you never went down that path!! Your nice and clean water, as it turns out, is not that nice and clean anymore. In fact, after looking at what your water actually contains - and believe me, there is nothing more disgusting then the product of that water testing - you will never drink your tap water again. You will even think twice about rinsing your food in that water!

From the moment you see what's in that glass, all you can think about is that your one-year old daughter drinks about ½ gallon of this stuff EVERY DAY.

At this point the "nice salesman" tells you how much the best in the world reverse osmosis water filtration system would cost. You almost faint at the price - but, hey, we are talking about the life and health of your little girl - and that is priceless.

The salesman, seeing your reaction, is willing to give you a special deal that ended just a couple of days ago. All you need to do is backdate the contract by about 3 days - and you get have this reverse osmosis water filtration system at a reduced price.

You close your eyes and sign the contract. The installation is scheduled to take place a couple of days later. When the salesman leaves, you come out from under hypnosis and go to your handy-dandy computer to check just what this reversed osmosis water filtration system is.

Right about now you start feeling like the dumbest person on Earth! All you needed to do is a little research. You could have gotten a similar reverse osmosis water filtration system for a fraction of the cost!!! And you could have installed it yourself!!

The full article is here, plenty more reading:

What next - "free" personality tests?
