So my car broke down the other day, apparemtly yhe pedal box needs to be replaced. Havent got a quote yet. Im also gonna ask him to have a look at the clutch because im sure its on the way out.

So in light of all this, just curiously, is it worth me repairing or will i buy a new car. Also what kinda of cost for the repairs mentioned.

    I have a vw polo 2001

    Cheers ofr all replys

You can weld the pedal box instead of replacing it.. I'd say it would be worth your while getting the clutch done "if" it does need to be done. Polo has good resale value. If it was Punto or something like that I'd say scrap it..

IMO, it depends on the general condition of the car.

Well the general condition of the car is next 2 new. No bumps or scrapes, farely new wheels and alloys and interior is spotless. was just wondering because if the clutch does need to be replaced i can easily see the whole job costing a grand. just askin to see if its worth it, or give it a patch job, sell it, buy a focus/golf

Same happened with my last car, a polo. It had to be replaced as the welder had no access.

You have to remove the pedal box to weld it, easy enough job, you will need a new plastic connector thingy where the brake pedal attaches to the servo rod as you have to break the old one to get pedal box out.

My Ibiza had the same problem.
Took it to an independent mechanic and he sorted it and few other problems for a couple of hundred €.

Might as well get it fixed. Then you can keep it or sell it with a clear conscience.
