I think my search for a new car is finally over. I went to view this car today.

Its a 3 door ford focus. Im not a fan of the 5 doors. I was just wondering what do ppl think of it and the price. I am going back in tomorrow for a test drive.

I forgot to ask about the timing belt. Would this need doing around the 60k mark? Can these cars be clocked. I was told no because they are digital.

Had a 3 door as my first car, nice big doors that I missed when I got my next 5 door.

Also Focus is a great car, I had a rental one in March, 100k km's and not a rattle and while it was a 1.4 it still was a good drive

I think just about any car can be clocked, ESPECIALLY digital odometers

A nice car yes all round, but the mk2 is a heavy car for that 1.4 engine and as a result heavy on the juice. Anything <1.6 is what you should be looking at. Ever hear of digital millage correction? anything can be clocked, it's not illegal if they inform you or declare it though. The timing belt service interval is 100,000k or 10 years whichever comes first, but I done mine at 90,000k. For that price I would expect a warranty.

Any Focus hatch I've had (I've had quite a few) has been a 3 door. They're great!

So should I be looking at more than 1.6 or less?

Oh all I got is a 3 month warranty if I buy. Should I be getting more?

Do you think the price is reasonable?

The 1.4 litre is too weak and behind the times performance wise. Definately go for the 1.6 litre but finding a 3 door 1.6 litre might prove more difficult. Might be worth looking up North or mainland UK, you probably will not save much money wise but the choice and spec will be better.

At minimum a 1.6 and a 3 month warranty on engine and gear box. If you were serious about that one you linked above I would ask for the timing to be done. There's a lot of choice out there now.

Yeah I like that one. I have to test drive it still. At the moment I am driving a honda civic 1999 1.4 petrol. Would the ford be a lot slower? I will ask to get the timing belt done

07 Zetec with low mileage. Room for a hagle on that price too. The Zetec Connection was a low volume model with some lovely extra kit. Can't see one for sale though anywhere here.
