I've been thinkin this for quiet a while, but it was only since last night, when watching the less than average movie, Unthinkable, which stars Sheen alongside Samuel L. Jackson & Carrie-Anne Moss. In it, Sheen plays and American/Muslim terrorist who has planted 3 nuclear bombs in different cities in America. I've been a fan of his for quiet a while, but i have to admit, the fim as a whole wasn't very good, but his performance alone makes worth watching.

The first time I seen Michael Sheen in a movie was in The Queen, where he of course played the role of Tony Blair, which in my opinion he played perfectly. Not only did he have the look, but he also sent the message across that Blair was a bit foolish, if you will.

2 more recnet movies he was in are Frost/Nixon & The Damned United. He was the main role in both these movies and was amazing in both of them. His acting as David Frost was so tense and outstanding, especially in the scenes with Nixon (Frank Langella) that i was actually watching this movie as if it were a live broadcast, and hanging on every word.

So, I just wonder if anyone out shares the same respect towards Micheal Sheen as an actor, as i do? All opinions Welcome.

**On a side note though, he also appears in the new Twilight movies. But as much as i like him, even he couldnt bring me to watch these movies ;)

I love Michael Sheen, his cameo appearances in the latest series of 30 Rock were fantastic too. Shows he has great comic timing to top it all off.

Good stuff. He's actually an actor who i reckon would be great craic in the pub. He is prbably really smart too

I watched The Deal recently (you can watch it on 4od on youtube) and he and David Morrissey are both great in it. Blair was a good part for him- he's got a lot of work out of it!

They say his brian clough was faultless too.

As has been mentioned his 30 Rock appearence was priceless.

I thought his best performance was on a BBC history drama.

He played Emperor Nero in ancient Rome, he played it very well and became very scary as he descended into madness

    It's up on youtube

    Yes, yes he is.

Michael Sheen is bloody brilliant. He was absolutely fantastic as Brian Clough and as David Frost (though I think Langella overshadowed him in the latter). He managed to steal the show with a limited role in an otherwise awful New Moon too.

I haven't seen his roles as Tony Blair yet but they are definitely on my list, and he looks wonderfully freaky in the upcoming Tron as well.

The new Anthony Hopkins is the best (bad) comparison I can come up with.

    pretty unfair there mike!

Hopkins is a bit onedimentional, hardly say that about sheen!

I loved the brian clough film, he did it so well.

loved him in The Damned United - he's one of those actors that seems to become the part - his whole face seems to change depending on the character

Yeah he's definitely one of those actors recently that when I hear he's in it I'm like 'oh great Michael Sheen is in it', and while those around me may not be as familiar with him. I just say he's a really good actor that can really pick a film up! The Damned United aside from his performance is an average film.

Strange to think of Michael Sheen, an excellent actor, having a kid with such a crap actress as Kate Beckinsale!

I doubt he ****ed her cos of her acting ability....

This is one thing I've actually noticed too!!!!!! For Clough in The Damned United, he seemed to develop his facial expressions to be incredibly like Clough, even up to the point where I have to wonder if he was not temporarily surgically enhanced!:p

But I have to agree, I think he is one of the finest actors working at the moment, and hopefully he will find a much wider audience soon. He seems to have a talent for making any film he is in much richer an infinitely more watch-able.

Defo one of my favourite actors and one who I hope finds great things in the future.

You can see them both (and Bill Nighy!) in Underworld on Film4 tonight. I haven't seen it and I can't say it looks like it's very good but perhaps Michael Sheen elevates it!

I'm prejudiced against vampires though, so I'll probably give it a miss.

First saw him a few years ago in a made for Tv thing called 'Dirty Filthy Love' about a guy with OCD/Tourettes which chronicled the main characters life as his condition took over. Haven't seen it since but I remember thinking at the time how good he was in it and actively trying to find out what else he'd done.

I don't think he's that good an actor. Good mimic perhaps (which seems to be a lot of his roles Blair, Frost, Clough etc) but I never really buy into any of the characters he's playing.

I think that's a good call on the mimic thing, but I'd be curious to know what you would call an example of good acting or a good actor?

He played Kenneth Williams brillantly in a tv movie

He is one of the best actors of his generation but he is very underrated
