Cancelling test

So, I emailed the RSA about cancelling my test last Tuesday, with 9 days to go. I know it's supposed to be 10 days notice, so I said if I was going to forfeit my fee I would just do the test anyway. Never got a response, so rang them today on my break from work. Of course it's only a voicemail service, so left a message asking them to call me back. I duly got a return phonecall, but again, was in work so couldn't answer. It was a snotty woman informing me that they never got my email, and to get in touch with them to discuss further arrangements.

I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO AN AUTOMATED VOICEMAIL SERVICE! How do I get through to a human being?? Plus 10 days notice is too much, I wanted to cancel because of a job interview, and you'd rarely get more than 10 days notice of that. Plus, the driving instructors seem to cancel whenever it suits them. Anyone know of a phone number that doesn't lead to voicemail??

Their main line is 1890 40 60 40, but they do work reasonably short hours. If you have a record of the mail being sent then you know it happened. Therefor you could argue that you did cancel and try keep your fee. This arguement is subject to you mentioning the 9 day timing.
If your driving instructor is canceling on short notice get a new one. That is unacceptable.

Finally got through to someone this morning. She re-iterated that they definitely, 100% had not received either of my 2 emails but said if I wanted to cancel I could forward the original email to her personal address. I said I would just do the test anyway, just resigned to it at this stage and have the morning off work as I didn't know what was going on.

Then just now I notice a voicemail on my phone, it was the same woman, saying "Ehh actually we found your emails, they were sent to the wrong section... But eh......... someone else cancelled your test"- and never ******* told me.

The upshot is I gave them an earful and am now doing the test on Thursday at the time I was originally supposed to. If they had just responded swiftly to last week's email I wouldn't be feeling so frustrated and fed up. As it is I'm in no mood to do the feckin thing now :mad::mad:

€75 for this joke of a service.

Iv had the exact same problem!!!

My test was due on the 29th of October (today!) at 10.10.

I emailed them originaly on the 14th of this month asking for the test to be rescheduled (not cancelled i may add) for after December. Personally I didn't feel ready and I had been put down to work that day aswell.

A few days later, having recived no confirmation,I emailed them again. Asking whether my request had been carried out. The next day I revieved a phone call from a "Joan Melly" saying they "never recived the first email!! And because the second one was sent less than ten days from the test,my test would be cancelled and i would forfit my fee..which at 75euro,I was *not* having happen!. She said unless I could send her a copy of the original email, she couldn't do anything.

Stressed out of my head I said Id look for the email, but Id sit the test anyway....the thought of loosing 75 made me balk!

Anyway..i came ome to find a letter from e RSA stating
"we acknowledge reciept of your request to cancel the appointment made for your B.."

WFT???! I specifically told her Id sit the test !!

Sent a complain email into the RSA website, emailed Joan TWICE and left two messages on the stupid voice mail, was hung up n three times this morning and when i FINALLY got through,I was told that was "between Joan and yourself" and she couldnt talk as she was with a customer at the moment. That was at 9.36 this morning and Iv still had no call back off her!!So now I may have missed *had it not actually been cancelled* my test!

I cant believe they get away with such shoddy service, and if they think there keeping my 75...they can think again!!

How do I go about being poilte but still firm in getting a new appointment?
And without ripping tem a new one?(which is what I really wanna do)

Wow. I don't think I could restrain myself. The joys of dealing with the government. Possibly best to do it by email. Tell the what to do. Tell them why they should do exactly what you say ( basicly, your post ). Best of luck.

After all that this morning,Joan FINALLY range me back.....at 1.30!!! After several times of being interrupted and finially losing my cool,I asked to speak with her supervisor who, very conviently, "wasnt in at the moment". With that she said they would do nothing unless I found the original email sent on the 14th.

What happens is when you email them to change the date, the only email address they have is the one to cancel your test, so everyone that uses that automatically gets there test cancelled as soon as they recieve the email. When I pointed out that there IS NO OTHER EMAIL and i only wanted to change the date if it was possible, she quite snottily replied "Well that's the one everyone else uses, and they don't seem to have a problem with it"

I was appauled by the way I was treated,Im 23 years old for crying out loud, not a child! Now I have to try to recover a months worth of deleted emails in order to find the original one!

Maby Il just bugger off to the UK and sit it there!

Basically told me to go sling my hook,we can't be bothered.
