Grand Megane is a fine car with good reliability (current Megane is doing well so far), option of 5 year warranty, great value and hugely practical.

Kia just won the JD Power 2010 for owner satisfaction in that class.

Having sat in both I found the interior of the Kia very oldskool with lots of hard plastics and grim feeling switchgear. Didn't appeal to me.

They are both fine choices in estate form, down to personal preference IMO.

    Thanks for that lads.

Funny enough I did test drive the Kia and got that impression also, a bit plastic-y. Also, it seemed quite confined though I was thinking afterwards maybe I just should have pushed the seat back.

Engine size is a bit smaller on the Renault.....I don't now how much difference this makes......1461 versus 1591 or something like that.

Megane comes in 86 and 106bhp, both the same 1.5 engine. We have the 106bhp version which suits the car very well, VERY economical and a refined cruiser (6 speed box).

1.6 diesel in the Kia has 115bhp with good fuel economy and refinement for it's size.

Might be worth looking at the Hyundai i30 wagon too as it is basically the same car as the Kia but the interior quality is a little more pleasent if that's an issue. Hyundai has a 5 year warranty as opposed to 7 years on the Kia though.

Well im always going to say the Renault because I sell them but trying to be objective here .....eh .......I'd still say the Renault. Looks better , sips fuel and its far more refined and comfy than the rickshaw Kia :D

    PM if you're interested. ;)

Care to elaborate? What did you like about it?

    Its Cee'd.
You forgot the all important apostrophe in cee'd...

    Sorry for being pedantic... :D

And I'll go with the Renault.
Its got a nice interior. And my sis has a Megane for the past 4 years and it hasn't gone wrong once...

Is that a Megane estate or regular hatchback?

I have a Ceed and it's a grand little car, good on fuel and haven't had as much as a niggle with it, my sister had a Megane and boy was she sorry.......

But she didn't have the Megane in question, completely different car.

Sure, decent value for money car. Good level of kit,Good fit and finish, nice stereo and on the road had a decent ride on a par with any other car in its class.

Our neighbor has a kia ceed and to me the interior fit and finish looked decidedly sub-par.

I had the new 2010 face lift model, and it was ok.

The Kia has a tinny plastic feel about it, the Renault has a nicer finish. They both have reliability issues but you get 7 years warranty with the Kia.

I'd still go for the Renault, it's a nicer car to drive and will go on the smell of fuel, better badge too :)
